On Sunday 14th September the GSPCA held our third Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday in St Peter Port and what a fantastic day it was.

Stall holders started arriving from 7am and with the road closing at 8am the set up began.

Although a little breezy the sun was shining and the weather was just right for an outside event.

At 9.40am the Battle of Britain marched through with a great group of spectators and they were inspected outside the Town Church by the Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Bailiff which started the day in a wonderful way.

With dozens of stalls, plenty for the children to do, animals looking for homes, freshly cooked food, live music with Chaos and LH Events, a fire truck and motorcycle display there really was something for all the family.

The Fun Dog Show Judged by BBC presenter John Randall was a great event and the Mascot Race being one of the highlights this year sponsored by KPMG and the Bumblebee Boat Cruises and supported by volunteers from the Greenmen MCC and Daniel the Island FM Donkey entertained the crowds and helped raise funds for both the GSPCA and Help a Guernsey Child.

In the afternoon the Power Boat Parade made a dramatic entrance with the streets lined wall to wall with spectators. They were entertained with over 20 boats dressed up, Giant Animal Mascots collecting for the GSPCA, the local Samba band and a wonderful atmosphere.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We have to thank everyone that supported, helped and was involved with the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday."

"This years Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday was the third we at the GSPCA have run and without doubt this was the biggest and best with literally 1000's of people and animals filling the streets."

"The atmosphere was heart warming and fun and we've had so much wonderful feedback, but we couldn't have put it all together without everyone involved and that supported the day."

"We are already looking towards next years Seafront Sunday and we hope the weather is just as great to help make it another fantastic success."

"We know we have made over £4000 in profit, possibly more for the animals but regardless of this we managed to find animals new homes, recruit new volunteers and arranged an event which celebrated animals in Guernsey in a wonderful way."

"The GSPCA really do want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved, supported, helped or attended the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday 2014 in anyway, it truly was appreciated."
