The GSPCA would like to apologise for a technical fault experienced on Saturday night during our out of hours service.

We had a number of reports Saturday evening that the 24 hour emergency helpline number was not being answered between approximately 7pm and 10pm.

When we were made aware that the divert to the on call warden had an issue it was changed as there appeared to be a fault.

The emergency number for the GSPCA is 07781 104082 or call 01481 257261 and choose the emergency option, but if you have any issues getting through to the Animal Shelter then please be aware that the GSPCA HQ is manned 24 hours 7 days a week.

The GSPCA out of hours warden service is manned entirely by volunteers who help cover the ambulance and emergency calls between 6pm and 8am 365 days a year.

We would like to highlight that this is an emergency service and our normal office hours are 9am until 5pm Monday to Saturday. Bank Holidays and Sundays our reception and shop area is closed but again the Shelter is manned 24 hours a day in case of emergencies.

If you need to find the Shelter in St Andrews please click here for directions.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'We are very sorry to anyone that tried to call between 7pm and 10pm on Saturday but is appears that there were technical problems.'

'When we were made aware of situation we made adjustments to the system so calls could get through, but if anyone has a sick or injured animal or an emergency then please be aware that there is always someone at the Shelter in St Andrews around the clock.'

'At the GSPCA we strive to ensure 365 days a year, 24 hours a day we are able to respond to emergencies such as sick or injured animals in Guernsey.'

'We always appreciate any feedback regarding our service and if you ever have any problems getting through or comments please do let us know.'
