All of the 22 pieces have completed by local artist Mark Bayliss who was born in the 1950's and has a passion for painting and drawing wildlife and domestic pets using a variety of mediums including pastels, coloured pencil, oils, charcoals and acrylics.

There are 20 individual original works and two pairs of prints of Orangutans.  Silent Bids can be made in the run up to the event.  To make a bid please come up to the exhibition at the Shelter, contact the GSPCA reception desk on 01481 257261 or email [email protected]

The Exhibition at the Shelter will have all of the art work displayed during half term week and within the same room there will also be a selection of animals that are at the Shelter looking for a good home as well as pet supplies, bric-a-brac, clothes and other goods on sale as well as refreshments.

The Auction starts at 7.45pm at the St Pierre Park Hotel with complementary drinks and nibbles and the Auction will be run by Martel Maides.

Before the event on Thursday 24th October if you wish to have a meal at the St Pierre Park Hotel in the Victor Hugo Restaurant or the Pavilion, both are donating to the GSPCA if you make your booking and reference that you are attending the GSPCA Art in the Park Auction.

The Pavilion is opening especially for the evening and will be putting on their Tennerfest menu which you can see by clicking here.

The GSPCA are very grateful to Mark Bayliss for donating the art work, the Heritage Group for sponsoring the event, Martel Maides for auctioning the pieces and of course to St Pierre Park Hotel and the Pavilion for their kind contributions from the meals on the evening.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'We must thank all involved for enabling us to host and put on this wonderful event that we are calling Art in the Park.'

'A special thanks must go to Mark Bayliss for his wonderful works of art and to the Heritage Group who have sponsored the event, and produced the Calenders and the Notelets.'

'We are hoping that families will come along to the event during the half term week later this month to see not only the 22 pieces of wildlife art but also many of the animals looking for homes at the Shelter.'

Mark Bayliss, local artist said 'I hope that the art work brings pleasure to those that attend and support both the Exhibition at the GSPCA and the Auction at the St Pierre Park Hotel on Thursday 24th October.'

'I was inspired by David Shepherd after attending an evening and exhibition and have supported wildlife conservation ever since.'

'I am very proud to be able to help support the GSPCA and thank all of those involved that have helped us put the Exhibition and Auction together as well as those who have bought Calenders and Notelets.'
