During the Sumer Jim Cathcart from BBC Guernsey popped up to the GSPCA for a guided tour with his daughter Alicia.

Jim who worked in radio for 30 years finished at BBC Guernsey last week and the GSPCA team and animals wish him all the best in his new career with St Johns Ambulance where last night he and a colleague helped rescue an injured pigeon which is now at the GSPCA after the GSPCA Ambulance popped by St John’s HQ last night to collect the poorly bird.

Over the years at BBC Guernsey staff and volunteers from the GSPCA have been interviewed countless times by Jim.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Over the last 6 years I have had the pleasure to be interviewed by Jim many times which has always been a great experience and he has been a joy to listen to each morning and will be missed by many of our team at the GSPCA who listen to him on the way to work and in some of the animal departments.”

“It was lovely to show Jim and his daughter around the Shelter in the Summer which he talked about on air on BBC Guernsey about how much they both enjoyed.”

“From all at the GSPCA we wish Jim all the best in his new career and last night some of the team got to meet him in his new job at St Johns Ambulance and one of his new colleagues as they had rescued an injured pigeon which is now in our care which they called Ambo.”

“We run tours in many ways at the GSPCA from those in the holidays to special tours for birthdays and to find out more please give the GSPCA a call on 257261 or check out our website .”

Jim recently said how much he enjoyed his visit “Alicia thoroughly enjoyed her first trip to the GSPCA.”

“She was hoping to see a giraffe, but seemed happy with the cats and guinea pigs.”

“Thanks again for allowing us to have a tour, I'm sure we'll be back.”
