Today the GSPCA were called to rescue a stray cat that was trapped behind a shed.

It is unclear how long the cat had been stuck, but she is now safe at the GSPCA.

Annie Janes Animal Care Assistant and Collection Officer attended the address in New Place, Vauvert earlier today after the call was received at the Animal Shelter.

The tabby semi long haired cat on arrival seemed in some distress and our collection officer was unable to reach the cat.

Thinking on her feet Annie with the help of the caller made a plan and with the use of a long catch pole attached to a mop with some additional string and a step ladder they managed to reach and retrieve the unfortunate cat.

Annie Janes said "It is unclear how long the cat had been caught behind the shed as their was evidence of urine and faeces, which could mean she had been there for a few days."

"It certainly wasn't the easiest of rescues I have attended but with equipment from the van and the help of the caller we managed to put something together that enabled us to quickly rescue her without having to damage the shed."

"We got her back to the GSPCA as soon as we could and she is now settled into a pen with some fresh food and water and we have named her Lola."

"We've had a closer look at her at the Shelter and despite a few fleas and a bit of dirt she seems well, but she isn't microchipped so we are appealing for anyone that is missing a female semi long haired adult tabby cat in the Vauvert area to call us at the GSPCA on 257261."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We see hundreds of stray cats come through the Shelter that sadly aren't microchipped and for only £4.99 it can be done here at the GSPCA."

"Poor Lola the cat has been through a lot, but she is now safe and sound back at the Animal Shelter."
