On Friday of last week 'Jubilee' as we have named him, a stray sick cat was rescued from the Castel area.

Jubilee was caught by a member of public near Castel Hospital and has a nasty left eye injury and a few other health problems.

On Friday he was rushed up to the vets and is currently on a series of treatments.

We have estimated Jubilee to be around 3 years of age and is an entire male, semi long haired black and white cat with no microchip.

We are appealing for the owner to come forward but it is likely he has been a stray for some time.

Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "On Friday at the GSPCA we had a stray cat with a very bad left eye brought in from the Castel area."

"We have called him Jubilee and we are appealing for the owner to come forward."

"When Jubilee arrived at the Animal Shelter we decided to rush him to the vets and we know he doesn't have aids or leukemia which we often see in entire male cats."

"The vet has put him on a variety of drugs and treatments and we are taking good care of him, but it will be some time before the eye is completely healed."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "At the GSPCA we help well over a 1000 cats every year in Guernsey from strays to road traffic accidents, investigate cruelty reports to those that owners can no longer care for, microchip them for £4.99 to providing advice on their care."

"Jubilee is doing well with the cattery staff and volunteers and when he is back to full health and if we can't find his owner we will look to find him a new home, but we will have to get him neutered first and microchipped."

"From Betty the English Bull Terrier to Jubilee the sick cat we had in Friday it costs over £2000 a day to run the GSPCA 24 hours 7 days a week and all donations are hugely appreciated and did you know you or your business can become an Angel Pen Pal sponsor to support the many animals in our care."
