Learn how to rescue Whales, Dolphins & Seals by training as a volunteer Marine Mammal Medic with British Divers Marine Life Rescue on Saturday 3rd September 2016.
Stephen Marsh, BDMLR Operations Manager said "BDMLR is a specialist marine animal rescue charity with over 3500 active trained Marine Mammal Medics covering England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands."
"The BDMLR Marine Mammal Medic Course has been developed to train members of the public how to safely rescue stranded whales, dolphins, porpoises and seals. You do not need to be a diver and the minimum age is 16yrs old."
"The course consists of a morning of lectures followed by practical sessions in the afternoon in the sea, using our life sized and weight, whale, dolphin and seal models."
"On Saturday 3rd September, BDMLR are running a course in cooperation with the GSPCA at their headquarters at Rue des Truchots, St Andrew in the morning and in the sea at La Vallette Bathing Pools, St Peter Port in the afternoon."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are very excited at the GSPCA to be helping host the BDMLR Marine Mammal Medic course and with a seal pup having been rescued in Jersey only last week shows the importance of the need for these skills in the Channel Islands."

Train as a BDMLR Marine Mammal Medic on Saturday 3rd September 2016
Venue: GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St. Andrews, Guernsey GY6 8UD
You do not need to be a diver and the minimum age is 16yrs old.
The course consists of a morning of lectures followed by practical sessions in the afternoon in the sea, using our life sized (and weight!) whale, dolphin and seal models.
9am for a 9.30am start prompt. Course should finish around 5pm.

This is a full day’s course and the fee is £90.
For this, as well as the day’s training, you will receive your first year’s subscription to BDMLR, one year’s third party medic insurance, cloth medic badge and car stickers, Medic ID card, a certificate and a copy of our internationally accredited Marine Mammal Medic Handbook.
Refreshments are not included so please bring a packed lunch with you. You will need to bring a drysuit for this course as practicals will be in the sea. We do not hire them out.
