On Tuesday 27th June Northern Trust staff came to the rescue to help with a number of very important jobs that needed to be done that week.

Over the previous three years 106 volunteers from Northern Trust have helped out at the GSPCA, with 38 staff helping in 2014 and a further 26 helping in 2015, 34 in 2016, 8 earlier this year and an additional 8 on the 27th June.

Guy Hardill, Ben Hill, Ben Merrien, Zoe Harris, Claire Radford, Darren Dyke, Anne Lowe & Fraser Hiddelston arrived they were clean and well dressed to help with grounds work and by the end of the day they were rather muddy, dusty and sweaty after a full day of hard work.

With the local loral judging in early July the team helped around site with planting, gardening and caring for the Shelter. The group also helped collect a GSPCA van and a team headed to Le Friquet Garden Centre who were donating £1000's worth of cages and aviaries that needed dismantling and transporting to the GSPCA.

Despite a rather wet day and a dusty move of the cages the team from Northern Trust were a massive help and achieved a huge amount in many ways at the GSPCA and getting equipment back to the Shelter.

After an extremely hard days work GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne took the team from Northern Trust for a guided tour where they saw many of the 400+ animals at the GSPCA.

Before the group left and after the tour the team got a thank you certificate for all of their hard work and also a special certificate featuring many of the volunteer groups that have previously helped for the ground breaking record of over 100 volunteers helping from one business.

Once again the work they under took is part of the 'Going, Going, Gone Wild' project which is headed by St Andrews Floral Group at the GSPCA to improve the grounds at the Animal Shelter for the wildlife, create educational areas and improve the site for the tens of thousands of visitors that pop along to the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Words cannot express how grateful we are to Northern Trust who are truly amazing and we really, really do appreciate all of their wonderful support and help."

"We are so lucky to have caring businesses in Guernsey like Northern Trust that allow their staff to help in the community."

"We were speaking to staff at  Northern Trust about how much work we have on at the GSPCA and when they heard of our need they jumped at the chance to help and came to our rescue during what is an extremely busy time."

"Everyone worked extremely hard from Northern Trust who helped around site and also helped dismantle and move a large number of cages and aviaries kindly donated by Le Friquet Garden Centre."

"By the end of the day the whole team were covered in dust, mud and rather wet and you could see how much effort enveryone of the team put in helping the GSPCA staff, St Andrews Floral Group and the Work to Benefit team."

"We always love to hear from businesses that would like to help us help the animals and community of Guernsey and there are many ways getting involved from CSR programmes to sponsoring animals in our care."

"We can even run bespoke events such as guided tours for your team and their families."

"From all at the GSPCA a huge thank you to all at Northern Trust."
