Earlier this week a Corn Snake was found and rescued by the GSPCA on Route de la Mare de Carteret.
After advertising the stray snake online and through the local media we are delighted to report that the female 5 year old snake who was very much loved and missed by her owner is now home safe and sound.
Owner Teresa Rodgers said "She is doing well and letting us handle her again without any problems."
"Jake has two corn snakes a male Corn Flake and Pop Corn a female."
"She is 5 years old and Jake has had her from a baby."
"Jake had forgotten to lock the vivarium this one time only and the next morning he found that she had escaped."
"We have been looking for her for around 3 months."
"She escaped into the utility room, so we were leaving out water and the odd mouse hoping to try catch her again and also putting flour on the floor, so we knew she was still in there as we could see the impression she made in the flour."
"I had no idea that she had managed to bypass this room and make it into the garden."
"Corn Snakes make lovely pets because of their docile nature, but as we have found out, they are very clever at escaping their enclosure if not locked, so we won’t be making that mistake again."
"She was very nervous when I collected her from you and wanted to strike out, but now is back to being the lovely snake she was."
"We are very glad that we have her back home with us."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We've been helping a lot or reptiles over the summer and it is wonderful when we can find the owners of those that have missed their loved pets."
"It is fantastic to know that Pop Corn the corn snake is back home safe and sound."
"It sounds like Pop Corn has a lovely home and that she is a very clever snake and will be having a close eye on in future to make sure it doesn't escape again."
"We currently have another stray corn snake in our care and had one found that was run over and we would ask any owner missing a snake to please do get in touch with us at the GSPCA on 257261."
"We have recently rehomed a hognose snake and actually have a corn snake called Shade of Grey in need of a new home."
"You need specialist equipment and good knowledge to care for a snake as a pet so we would ask anyone thinking of adopting one to please ensure you are prepared."
