Today the GSPCA team have been very busy preparing and clearing areas for work to be carried out tomorrow.
We are hugely grateful to GFF Flooring who are donating and fitting flooring to our Hospital area and thanks to a grant from the Co-op Helping Hands they are also fitting a new floor in the ferret room both of which are desperately needed due to the aged floors they currently have.
With the lovely weather many of the animals have gone into outside cages and aviaries and others have gone into other sections of the GSPCA.
The GSPCA would like to say a big thank you to Burns Pet Foods.
Burns Pet Food uses the minimum of ingredients to produce maximum benefits for dogs, cats or rabbits. Developed by veterinary surgeon John Burns in 1993, it’s just simple, nutritious, easy to digest food for all life stages. It makes pets happy and healthy inside and out and is hypo-allergenic to suit the most sensitive stomachs.
Just before Christmas Burns Pet Foods donated a pallet full of their wonderful food which over the last few months we have used to feed the many dogs in our care.
The GSPCA has been situated in the heart of Guernsey in the Parish of St Andrews since 1929.
The GSPCA site has transformed over the years and especially in recent years with the kennels being rebuilt in 2005 and the new multi purpose animal welfare building in 2016.
The Animal Shelter helps in excess of 3000 animals every year that come though the doors, but there are many more supported by the work we do.
It's nearly Christmas and Santa has come early at the GSPCA.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the kind an caring supporters who have donated a number of items recently which will help in the care of the many animals at the GSPCA.
Over the last few weeks we received lots of packages at the Shelter and when we opened them we have found all sorts of goodies from cleaning supplies to goods for the pets in our care.
In the summer we moved into our new Multi Purpose Animal Welfare Building and many of these items are helping equip it and also around site.

Today we would like to extend a huge thank you to Liz Kerr who popped in to take professional group pictures of 24 of the 25 Slovakian puppies with the team and volunteers at the GSPCA.
One pup was out on foster, but the other 24 joined GSPCA staff and volunteers for their first family picture in a group.
The puppies which have been in the GSPCA care for over 7 weeks are very soon to be officially rehomed and the team have been working through the hundreds of inquiries and applications.
6 weeks on from the 25 Slovakian puppies being detained at the GSPCA, many are wondering the outcome for the 18 pups that after the court case remained the possessions of the individuals involved in moving them from Slovakia to the UK.
We are currently awaiting to hear from the law officers who will inform us towards the end of next week the outcome.
We are hopeful at the Shelter and indeed all involved that they will be allowed to remain here in Guernsey and we will disclose the information as soon as we are aware.
As the Slovakian puppies grow and the team at the GSPCA expose the puppies to new experiences their vaccinations for some will soon be completed.
We are hopeful once this is the case we will be able to take them out and about but we are currently appealing for leads and collars which you can view or purchase on our Amazon Wish List .
24 hours a day, 7 days a week staff and volunteers work around the clock at the GSPCA to ensure the animals are cared for and those in need can be rescued around Guernsey.
At present with the 25 Slovakian puppies and many other animals at the GSPCA we are continually appealing for animal feed and cleaning products.
One of the wonderful additions that has benefited many animals at the Shelter has been our Wish List which we have both on our website and a link to an Amazon Wish List.
