On Sunday 12th April at 9.30am Island FM and Creature Comforts invited dog owners to join them and ourselves on a brisk walk from Liberation Monument to Bulwer Avenue and returning to Liberation Monument.
With the sun shining and a team of GSPCA and Creature Comfort volunteers for registration at the Liberation Monument the dogs and their owners arrived in their dozens to help support and raise funds to help animals in Guernsey.
For those that supported goody bags were handed out for for each dog and a prize draw for their owner, and also there were some very happy owners who won one of 3 prize including £100, £50 and £25 in Creature Comforts vouchers.
Island FM presenter Josh Gabriel joined in with the fun and broadcast live during the walk.
Richard Chandler from the GSPCA said "We want to thank Creature Comforts and Island FM for organising the sponsored dog walk that took place on Sunday and of course all that supported no matter how many legs they had."
"It was a wonderful day, with great weather and it was so nice to see many of the dogs that have been adopted from the Animal Shelter and many others which were so well cared for."
"It costs over £2000 a day to run the GSPCA 24 hours 7 days week with the 200 to 300 animals in our care, so every penny really helps."
"Hundreds of pounds were raised on the day and we still have some to come in and a big thank you to everyone involved from the volunteers to those taking part."
Sarah Ozanne GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "It was really great to see so many lovely dogs."
"It's non stop at the GSPCA, especially with Spring on the way as we see a sharp increase in the number of animals we have to help and rescue and we really appreciated all the support to the wonderful event on Sunday."
Michelle Botes from Creature Comforts said "The winning raffle numbers from Sundays charity dog walk which were randomly picked by GSPCA staff were: £100 - 338 claimed by Mary, £50 - 346 claimed by Becky and £25 - 366 claimed by Charlie."
