Last weekend the GSPCA joined in with the fantastic annual Torteval Scarecrow Festival.

This is the second year we have been allowed to join this wonderful family Guernsey event which is held in high esteem by so many.

Last year the GSPCA focused their scarecrow display on Jessie the beagle who had been stray for over two months and was caught only weeks before the event.

This year the GSPCA had many international stories as ideas for a display, so GSPCA staff Sebienne Goman and Sarah Ozanne spent many hours after work preparing and putting together a very diverse scarecrow entry.

The GSPCA entry at the Torteval Scarecrow Festival included:

  • The 25 Slovakian Puppies - from the successful prosecution of the illegal transportation of pups through the Channel Islands headed for the UK
  • The Dead Cat that turned out to be a hand puppet made an appearance
  • Olivia the turtle with her passport who last week landed in Gran Canaria after months of care to save her life at the GSPCA
  • Bonnie the seal pup who was rescued close to death and now back in the waters of Guernsey

The GSPCA also featured else where at the Torteval Scarecrow Festival, did you see where?

Seb Goman GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "I've really wanted to do something that was a bit of fun for the GSPCA and I really enjoyed making our Torteval Scarecrow entry."

"I'm already thinking of ideas for next year and thank you to the organisors and Mr and Mrs MacIntyre for letting us enter this amazing event."

If you missed our Scarecrow entry you still have time to see it as Seb with help from Mikey have set it up in front of reception at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
