make it new toys
give it extra attention
let it sleep alongside you
give it a special treat
pop along to our open day today or tomorrow 1030am - 430pm to get it something nice
Keeping animals as pets may become detrimental to their health if certain requirements are not kept. An important issue is inappropriate feeding, which may produce clinical effects.
Some of these could be consumption of chocolate. Also passive smoking is dangerous for pets. Researchers have found that exposure to tobacco smoke has been associated with certain cancers in dogs and cats and allergies in dogs.

In some cases pets may also provide their owners with benefits, such as providing companionship to elderly adults who do not have adequate social interaction with other people. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction.
We are always looking for homes for the many pets we have at the GSPCA.
Inca is a husky, Fluke the jack russell are both in need of a new home and Mitzi is our longest stay cat looking for an owner. All need special homes and if you are looking for a pet please do get in touch.
Sarah Creasey Animal Welfare and Education Officer said 'We all love our pets and although today is a special day to celebrate this we have to remember to take care of our pets all year round.'
'This time of year is hard for those pets living outdoors in wet, muddy fields and for our indoor pets the bad weather often means it is more difficult to give them the exercise they need but there are many things you can do to keep them entertained.'
'There are so many toys on the market to keep your pet entertained and we have plenty on sale at the GSPCA.'
'Also to keep your pet safe why not pop along to one of our pet first aid courses at the Shelter so you know what to do in case of an emergency.'

All courses are a minimum £15 donation and you must book your place by the Saturday before the training session.
Within the sessions you get the chance to learn about what to do if you were faced with an emergency situation with your dog or cat. All participants receive handouts and a few goodies and surprises.
