Over the Summer the team at Swoffers gifted over 50 nest boxes they had made at Guernsey Prison to the GSPCA to help raise funds for the many animals and birds at the Shelter.

The beautifully designed and Swoffers engraved nest boxes gifted to the GSPCA first made an appearance at the North Show followed by a number of other Summer events as well as the recent Mallard Cinema event.

The GSPCA helps well in excess of 1000 sick and injured wild birds every year from finches which the boxes are designed for to much larger birds of prey and sea birds.

The boxes which were on sale for a minimum donation of £5 have helped raise much needed funds for the many birds that are in the care of the GSPCA.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was so very kind of the wonderful team at Swoffers to donate so many nest boxes to the GSPCA to help raise much needed funds for the birds in our care and help those in the wild have a home.”

“The Summer was packed once again with many events and we sold many of the lovely Swoffers nest boxes, but have a few left for sale at the GSPCA if you would like to help offer the birds in your garden a home.”

“A huge thank you to Swoffers and of course all that have bought a lovely nest box.”

“To help the many animals and birds in our care at the GSPCA there are many ways you or your business can support us with their temporary home such as becoming an Angel Pen Pal sponsor helping towards the 24/7 care we provide 365 days a year to animals in need.”

Spencer Noyon Swoffers Director said "We’re delighted to have played a part in helping the GSPCA raise money that contributes to caring for animals in need on the island.”

“As Estate Agents, it’s in our nature to try to find homes for everyone, including our feathered friends, and as a local business we are always keen to find ways to get more involved with different sectors of the community.”

“The Cheep Homes initiative actually gave us the opportunity to do both.”

“It started out as a way to provide nesting boxes for native birdlife but it evolved into something which saw Swoffers, the RSPB, The Guernsey Prison Workshop and the GSPCA all working together.”

“So not only has it encouraged islanders to provide all-important homes for local birds but it’s proved a great example of co-operation across very diverse areas of the community, and Swoffers would like to thank everyone involved.”

Steve continued “Conservation is at the heart of what we do at the GSPCA and we have ongoing projects at the Shelter and have a number of nest boxees and bio-diverse habitats onsite for wildlife which we continue to improve and develop."

"We are always looking at ways to involve anyone that would like to get involved with our work with wildlife and domestic species and please do get in touch if you are interested."

"We currently have hundreds of domestic birds in need of loving homes from canaries in aviaries to parrots in large cages.”

“We are always trying to find the animals in our care good homes and to see some of those in need please visit .”
