Although we have not had any sightings of Bertie for some time we continue to liaise with his owners in hope that he may still be found.

Jessie the stray beagle is also proving illusive although proving like Slygo the stray terrier 2 years ago that a stray nervous dog in Guernsey can survive for months.

Although as the months from the time he has been seen makes it difficult to think he is still stray we continue to appeal for any reports to be made to the GSPCA on 257261.

Clive Mcminn the owner of Bertie said "We still believe that there is a good chance that Bertie can still be surviving out there and keeping a low profile and until we know otherwise we will not give up hope and will continue to look for him, although we know that it is hard at times to stay positive."

"The problem we have is where to look and how."

"We are reliant on sightings and well grounded suspicions."

"The recent events surrounding Jessie the missing Beagle are reflective of the early period of Bertie's disappearance."

"This reminds us that a dog can and will move freely from district to district."

"Guernsey is an ideal place for this to happen."

"Fingers crossed that little Jessie is found very soon and back safely with her family."

"We believe from experienced contributors that Bertie will by now have settled in a routine to a particular area, we really do not know even now what that area is."

"So please keep Bertie in your minds whilst carrying out your normal activities and report anything you see or suspect to the GSPCA on 257261."

"Thank you again for all your help."

Bertie has now been missing for 7 months and we haven't had any sightings in the last 4 months

The last possible sighting was in and around the L'Islet area we ask for you to report any possible movements of a loose dog.

The main sightings and possible signs have been in the North of Guernsey, although most were prior to Christmas.

The sightings appeared late at night or early hours of the morning, and with nervous dogs that are stray this can often be the case.

We continue to work closely with Clive and Lynn McMinn to help in the search of their dog Bertie and we all appreciate the wonderful public support to date.

We would like to highlight that Bertie like Jessie the stray beagle cross is a very timid little lad, especially with men and people he doesn't know.

If you do spot him then please call us at the GSPCA on 01481 257261

Please do not approach or try to catch him as it is likely to scare him away and not help with his safe capture.

If he is in a secure area where you can close a gate or door then please do so and give us a call at the Shelter.

With all reports the time, location and direction of movement is extremely important.

If you are able to get a picture or video clip this would be extremely helpful.

At the GSPCA we have team members at the end of a phone and manning our ambulance 24 hours a day.

With those putting food out for him, as well as food for hedgehogs and feral cats in and the other sources it is extremely unlikely he will go hungry, even after all this time.

We are doing everything we possibly can, but we cannot move forward until we know his exact movements.

There is a reward for his return of £200.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Tracking Bertie has been extremely difficult and to date we have had no photographed sightings of him since he went missing in November and sadly no sightings since early this year."

"We continue to hope that Bertie may still be out there and it is certainly possible with the food resources in Guernsey and until proof of him no longer being stray we will continue to keep the search alive."

"Jessie the stray beagle who has been out for some weeks now is also proving difficult to catch although we have many reports and pictures of her, but she has been known to travel several miles in a very short period of time across fields making it extremely difficult."

"We are using a trap but she seems to have moved west and is currently around the Beucamps and Castel area, which is where she was two weeks ago."

"We appreciate all the help in the search for both dogs and will continue to do everything we can to bring them safely home."

"With any sightings please call us immediately on 257261, thank you."
