With only a matter of weeks before Temperance the seal pup being released we are in desperate need of fresh fish to fatten him up.

His ideal fish is mackerel or herring and it has to be human quality for his health.

Temperance is eating 20-30 fish a day and we are currently struggling to find suppliers with enough in stock.

If you haven't got any fish you can still help by donating to - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jerseyandguernseysealpups

The injured and very poorly grey seal pup was rescued at Beaucette Marina last November has more than tripled his weight and has turned into the fastest swimming seal we have ever had so is now in the last stage of his rehabilitation.

Temperance was the thinnest grey seal pup to be rescued by the GSPCA and it has been a long road in his care to get him fit enough to get him to where he is today.

You can also help by donating online www.paypal.me/DonateGSPCA calling us on 257261 or popping into the Shelter in St Andrews.

Geoff George Animal Collection Officer and main carer for the seals at the GSPCA said “Temperance is without doubt the fastest seal pup we have ever had.”

“He is doing so well in our pools at the GSPCA and in a matter of weeks we will be returning him to the wild all being well.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are really struggling to find suppliers with enough mackerel and herring for Temperances final weeks of rehab.”

"We are appealing for any help for donations of fish, but for his health they do need to be human quality."

“From just 11kg last November to the healthy and nearly fat enough animal to be released really warms the heart.”

“Temperance is eating extremely well and we are guessing has more than tripled his weight so will soon be ready for his release to the wild.”

“It is costing over £5 per meal as he is eating so much fish and we’d like to thank all those that have donated to his care and to anyone that can help us help him it is hugely appreciated.”

“Although we are past the seal pup season we are now in Spring, so very busy with baby wildlife found abandoned like Cory the hoglet found in St Martins last night.”

“To help and information if you find an injured animal you can call us 24/7 on 257261 or check out our wildlife advice pages - http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals/wildlife-advice “
