On Sunday a very poorly, sick, thin cat was rushed to the vets and has been on a drip for the last 3 days.

The old stray cat was found near Les Banques and has had a number of health issues and sadly no microchip.

The condition the cat was found in meant it would have likely not made a recovery if it hadn't have been taken to the vets when it was found.

The team have called the cat Mercedes who is a black and white female of an age estimated over 10 years.

We have been checking lost and found reports but we have not yet found any matches.

Mercedes will be making her way back to the GSPCA later today after 3 days intensive care at Isabelle Vets who managed to stabalise her.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Thankfully Mereceds was found when she was as she was so weak any longer and there may have been no hope for this old, friendly cat."

"The team at Isabelle Vets have had Mereceds on a drip for the last three and she is now well enough to come back to our care at the GSPCA."

"With no microchip or ID we have no way of tracing an owner and we are appealing for any information of an owner and you can call us on 257261."

"After a number of blood tests we know that Merecedes has thyroid problems among-est other health issues and is extremely thin."

"If anyone would like to donate to Merecedes care or any of the many other animals at the GSPCA please call 257261, pop into the Shelter or via the links on our web pages."
