Sunday the GSPCA held our 13th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday since 2012.

Every year we the GSPCA are kindly allowed to take over the heart of the island as in St Peter Port harbour to run an event to celebrate animals in Guernsey.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday is without doubt our biggest event of each year.”

“To be allowed to take over the Seafront each year to celebrate animals and our community is truly humbling and we are so grateful to all involved and of course all that support this amazing event.”

“It’s a early start as we are on the Seafront at 6am to start the prep and assist the amazing 120+ stall holders that attend and help make it such a special occasion.”

“From the many food vendors to craft stalls, upcycling to Isabelle Vets, animal businesses to trainers, charities to St Johns bringing the Flying Christine in the morning, kids games to go-karts, ice-cream to businesses running stalls to raise funds and awareness there really is something for everyone.”

“We base ourselves mostly on the Crown Pier where we have a mega stall with a jumbo tombola, loads of goods for sale to lucky dips, GSPCA clothing to toys, coconut shy to a free kids zone and so many displays of animals in need of homes, Dolphin Discovery Trail display, posters about our BIG BUILD, awareness to campaigns, about Cupcake Week and so much more.”

“We also have the show ring where at 10am the incredible Guernsey Majorettes kicked off the day at 10am with a fabulous show which brought a massive crowd starting the day with a bang.”

“The main event was the Annual Fun Dog Show and this year it was one of the biggest we have ever seen, if not the biggest.”

“This was due to the amazing and generous companies that donated prizes and our fabulous new rosettes.”

“Breton kindly donated £50 to the first place for every class which there were 10 and the Best in Show.”

“The Best in Show also won from Monochrome a Pet Portrait worth £150 and goodies from the Les Friquet Garden Centre worth over £100 which was won by Ralph and the Coxon family.”

“In every class there were wonderful rosettes for the first to fifth place and all runners up received and certificate.”

“Many of the classes had over 20 dogs and it was amazing to see such a variety of well loved and fabulous canines as well as there owners and families.”

“The BIG winner of the Fun Dog Show was Ralph a 12 moth old Weimaraner who won the male puppy class and owned by the Coxon family.”

Steph Coxon Ralph’s owner said “Thanks again for Sunday.”

“What an incredible day!”

“Ralph’s been loving his new celebrity status, and you honestly made the kids' day, if not their whole week!”

“They’re even talking about taking the trophy to school.”
