On Monday the first ever off site GSPCA Charity Shop opened its doors.

Many will be aware that during covid we had to close the onsite charity shop at the GSPCA for a number of reasons which includes it is being transformed into a small animal unit.

The shop, headed up by Michelle Champion and her great team of volunteers has had a fantastic first week and lots of kind and positive feedback.

The shop is located next to Fillers and some may remember it as the Christian Aid or Oxfam shop.

Michelle Champion GSPCA Charity Shop Manager said “We’ve had a great first week at the new GSPCA Charity Shop in Smith Street.”

“Each day has been really busy and we even took over £300 in one day this week.”

“The money raised from the shop will hel[p the 100’s of animals at the GSPCA and the 24/7 work we carry out 365 days a year.”

“I must say a huge thanks to all the volunteers and those have supported us to get the shop ready and during our first week.”

“If you would like to volunteer in the shop please pop in and see me we are open 6 days a week.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are very excited to announce that on Monday we opened our new GSPCA Charity Shop.”

“The shop is in Smith Street next to Fillers and the GSPCA team with many volunteers worked hard redecorating and getting it ready for the BIG day.”

“We sadly closed our on site charity shop before the first lock down to reduce foot fall on site and we have been working on turning it into a small animal unit so it is great news that we are opening a new shop.”

“The new shop is open 8am to 530pm so longer hours than the previous shop and we also accept card payments which has been very popular.”

“On Monday one of the first customers was Dylan, my son who came with me to see how they were doing.”

“One of the lovely volunteers Helen served us and he cot a little transformer at a great price.”

“Please do pop in and support our new Charity Shop in Smith Street and thanks again to Michelle, Tim and all that have worked so hard including Lee from Professional Decorators and to the Work to Benefit team and especially the Investec Volunteers and to Investec who helped pay for much of the items used to decorate the inside.”

“Huge thanks to all that supported our first week open and of course to Michelle and her team raising much needed funds for the animals and our work at the GSPCA.”
