This Christmas could you take a moment to nominate someone or a charity for a national award.

It doesn't take long and it is always great to see Guernsey featured for the wonderful work caring people carry out 24 hours 7 days a week.

Below are the details of the Petplan and ADCH Awards as well as the Ceva Awards -

Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Charity Awards celebrate outstanding animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK who go that extra mile to help rescue and rehome animals in need.

Petplan has worked closely with animal rehoming centres for over 30 years and sees first-hand the fantastic work that goes on to help improve the welfare of animals. These awards provide an opportunity to recognise the dedication and commitment of charities and give pet owners a chance to say 'thank you'.

What are the award categories?

The three award categories are:

  • Animal Charity Volunteer of the Year
  • Animal Charity Employee of the Year
  • Animal Charity Team of the Year

What should I say in my nomination?

Each pet owner will have their own individual reasons for why they think a specific charity team or individual deserves an award. Try to provide detailed examples of what the charity or members of the team did to go above and beyond your expectations. What exactly did they do or say? How did they make you feel? What was it that made your experience a positive one?

To nominate please click here.

How are these awards judged?

The nominations are judged by an impartial and independent panel of key industry representatives. These judges have first-hand experience of working in the animal welfare sector and are able to use their expertise to judge who the truly outstanding teams and individuals are from the nominations we receive. Petplan are not part of the judging panel.

When is the nomination period?

The Petplan and ADCH Animal Charity Awards open in October and close on the 15th February 2016.

To nominate please click here.

When are the winners announced?

Three finalists will be selected in each category and invited to attend a prestigious awards ceremony in April 2016, where the winners will be announced.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Last year our very own Yvonne Chauvel was a finalist from the 5000 nominations and we were all so proud of her at the GSPCA."

"The awards are a fantastic way to celebrate those that work so hard helping animals around the clock and it would be wonderful if we could recognise others from Guernsey on the national stage with the ADCH and Pet Plan Awards."

Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant said "I really couldn't believe I was short listed from 1000's of animal workers from all over the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands."

"Each nominee receives a certificate so if you think you know someone that helps animals please do nominate as it is a great award."
