Pongo is an incredible long haired black and white cat who is diabetic and we really want him to find his forever home.

Pongo arrived during the first lockdown and although we are in lockdown once again you can still complete an adoption form if you are interested in this amazing cat.

To see the adoption procedure and download a cat adoption form please go to http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals

Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said “First thing in the morning at GSPCA the IFH Cat Staff member checks that all the cat’s are well and that there are no new strays in, after that the first port of call is giving the wonderful Pongo his insulin injection.”

“Pongo is a lovely ten and a half year old man who is diabetic, Pongo would love a home as an only cat with no young children or dogs, this sweet cat will need a garden but he is not suited to live near any busy roads.”

“Please do not be put off by giving insulin injections as full training will be given to any new potential owner and you would be surprised how easy it is to give.”

“Pongo is such a good boy having his injections in fact he gets more annoyed if you move his food bowl while he is eating.”

“As a diabetic he is on a measured amount of diabetic meat and biscuits and will need two injections a day, Pongo will also require two blood tests a year while he is stable to check his glucose levels, this man is so friendly and is a real sweetie and he would love it so much to have a forever home during #GSPCAPurpleWeek.”

“If you are interested in him please fill in a cat re homing application form and email it to [email protected] .”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We all love Pongo at the GSPCA and really want him to find his forever home this #GSPCAPurpleWeek .”

“Pongo arrived nearly a year ago and we always struggle to find the older cats homes and especially those with health issues.”

"Pongo is actually featured in a calendar we have on sale at the GSPCA and is on sale for only £3 now and to find out more check out the original post http://www.gspca.org.gg/blog/2021-adch-calendars-featuring-gspca-cat-pongo-and-fridge-magnets-now-sale ."

“Each year to mark our anniversary we hold our #GSPCAPurpleWeek and this year we see our first ever in lockdown.”

“With few fund raisers and next to no boarding due to lockdown the GSPCA income has been hit hard and we need your support now more than ever.”

“There are many ways you can help support our vital 24/7 work and donate or raise funds for the hundreds of animals in our care.”

“With over 130 hedgehogs, 3 seal pups, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, fish, reptiles and many birds we help over 3000 animals through the doors every year.”

“With so many animals in our care we would love you to join our sponsor scheme to help us each month.”

“Just a couple of pounds each month can make a massive difference in helping the animals in our care and to find out more please go to http://www.gspca.org.gg/sites/default/files/Angel%20sponsor%20form%20special%202018%20new.pdf .”

“We have been working hard not only to care for the many animals and carry out our rescue work, but also reviewing our strategy.”

“Here is some information for those not familiar with what we are trying to achieve and we couldn’t do this without your support and we really hope you will join in with #GSPCAPurpleWeek.”
