This morning we released the following –‘Just before 4am this morning in the Doyles Road area a kind member of public recued a young ginger cat from drowning.

The cat had somehow got stuck in the water feature.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “At 4am this morning a member of public arrived at the GSPCA with a very bedraggled young ginger cat.”

“The poor kitten which looks around 8 to 12 months had got trapped in a water fountain and couldn’t get out.”

“We dried him off and seems well despite his ordeal and we are now trying to trace the owner through his microchip.”

“Sadly animals are rescued from pools and water features every month and it is really important to ensure there is a way trapped animals can get out as many try to use them to drink from.”

“If you are missing a ginger cat from the Doyles Road area please do call us on 01481 257261.”

“We do microchipping at the GSPCA for just £4.99 and for lost and found helpful advice - .” ‘

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager now adds “We are delighted to say that Mister the ginger kitten is now safely home.2

“The owners are extremely grateful to the kind rescuer and the GSPCA.”

“We have also been informed that action will be taken with the water feature to prevent this from happening again.”

“We are sure Mister will have learnt a lesson from his ordeal and we have been informed he is being kept inside for the time being just in case.”

“There are many ways you can help support our vital 24/7 work and donate or raise funds for the hundreds of animals in our care.”

“With over 100 hedgehogs, 2 seal pups, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, fish, reptiles and many birds we help over 3000 animals through the doors every year.”

“With so many animals in our care we would love you to join our sponsor scheme to help us each month.”

“Just a couple of pounds each month can make a massive difference in helping the animals in our care and to find out more please go to .”
