At the GSPCA we have offered microchipping for your cat, rabbit or dog for only £4.99 for nearly 10 years.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The GSPCA helps over 1500 domestic animals every year and sadly only 80% of dogs and cats are microchipped meaning of the 200 stray dogs and 3-400 stray cats we help we struggle with many to quickly identify owners and some of the microchip details aren’t up to date.”

“Yesterday little puppy Bumble Bea popped to the GSPCA to be microchipped which we offer for just £4.99 and is a quick and easy process and can really help speed up the process if your pet goes missing in identifying an owner.”

“Sadly the laws in Guernsey to not enforce microchipping of any type of pet, but the GSPCA strongly encourage that this is done as it really helps us find you as an owner as quickly as possible.”

“If your dog, cat or rabbit needs microchipping it is important you make an appointment so we can ensure a team member is prepared for your arrival and we can get the forms ready.”

“If you need your pets chip checking then you can do so at your vets when you are there or please call us to arrange.”

“It was lovely for the team to meet Bumble Bea who was chipped by Geoff George one of our trained microchipping staff.”

“Bumble Bea lives with Barney who was adopted from the GSPCA.”

“We microchip many species rehomed from the Shelter including dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and even the hedgehogs we release.”

“To see some of the animals in need of homes please visit http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals .”

Tim Pellet who is Bumble Bea’s owner said “Thank you to Geoff for microchipping Bumble Bea yesterday.”

“He really enjoyed meeting some of the team at the GSPCA and we are very happy that he is now microchipped.”

To book please telephone the Shelter on 257261 for an appointment or email [email protected] as we need to ensure trained staff are available.

Please ensure that your dog is kept on a lead and that cats are in secure baskets.

The GSPCA has been encouraging pet owners for over three decades to get their canine and feline pets microchipped.

The GSPCA as well as many animal welfare organisations want to see all dogs and cats microchipped to ensure that if ever they become lost they can be reunited swiftly with their owners.  More importantly if they are found stray and involved with an accident then the vet history via the owner can be obtained quickly.

For more details you can call 01481 257261, email [email protected] or pop along to the Shelter in St Andrews

Another issue we often have are owners not updating their details with the microchip data bases and we would urge all owners to please ensure their details are up to date.  If you unsure on how to do this please get in touch with your animals microchip number and the GSPCA can refer you to the right company.
