Come see our stall at the Guernsey Festival this weekend.
We have all sorts of fun festival items on sale from face paint to colour hair spray. Bottles of pop to tennis balls. Frisbee's to GSPCA goods. Glow sticks to crisps. We even have a limited supply of toilet covers for those that may be looking.
Please support us and say hello.
Bernard our mascot will even be there so despite the wind, rain or sunshine let's have a great weekend and enjoy the music.
The Management or the Victorianna Bar & Restaurant and the GSPCA would like to apologise as the Diamond Jubilee BBQ & Band 'City Limits' at the Victoriana Bar & Restaurant, L'Atlantique on the 4th June has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
We are so sorry to all of our supporters that were planning to attend us at this event for any inconevienance. We do have other events planned so we hope to see you at these and we would like to wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable Diamond Jubilee Weekend.
From a bunny boom to a guinea pig bonanza the Animal Shelter is now inundated with over 20 rabbits, guinea pigs and rats in need of a good home.
From strays, unwanted litters and those that cannot be cared for due to an owner’s change of circumstances or welfare reasons the Shelter is literally bursting with these little animals looking for new homes.
Just last night another stray rabbit was found wandering and we urge any owners that lose their pets to ensure they register their details with the Shelter as we have stray animals brought in every day.
Curves Guernsey at Admiral Park are hosting a collection this month to help the Women’s Refuge and the GSPCA with food.
The female only gym is asking members to donate non-perishable food and donations for these two charities and those that donate will be entered in a draw for a special Curves prize. Non-members can waive the initial joining fee if they donate a bag of food.
This weekend we welcomed Islanders to our first of the two planned guided tour events. The sun was shining and the three tours were received extremely well.
The visitors were walked around the Shelter being shown the facilities and getting close to the 200 resident animals and birds.
The tour started in the newly refurbished wildlife unit and went to each of the Shelters departments meeting staff and volunteers whilst finding out what we do and our plans for the future.
The last 3 weeks staff and volunteers have braved the weather to sell GSPCA and pet goods in town and Oatlands during the late night shopping evenings.
Even in pouring rain they stood there from 6-9pm raising funds for the Animal Shelter. A big thank you must go to them and Bernard who helped raise nearly £1500 all of which will go towards helping animals in Guernsey.
Bernard our mascot gave out hugs and lollys whilst those helping sold everything from GSPCA mugs to cat toys, rabbit stockings to GSPCA teddies, reindeer antlers and flashing noses to chocolate bars.
A couple of weeks before Christmas, a turkey hen which had been sighted wondering about on a few previous occasions, was finally captured by a GSPCA staff member. She was placed in a large outdoor aviary at the shelter in order that she be safe, and be able to rest and recuperate. She did not have a leg ring and therefore it was not possible to trace her owner, and no one came forward to claim her. What with it being just before Christmas, there was no intention to re home her in case the new owner’s intentions were not altogether honourable!
