GSPCA Purple Month – Father and Sons joint birthdays raise funds for the GSPCA

Last weekend Adam Powell and Robin Powell, father and son celebrated their 40th and 70th respectively.

On the night they decided they would like to collect donations for charity in lieu of gifts and chose the GSPCA.

The party took place at the Imperial and a fabulous evening was had raising an amazing £198.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “A huge thank you to Adam and Robin Powell for raising an amazing £198 for our work at the GSPCA at their recent joint 40th and 70th birthday party at the Imperial last Saturday.”

GSPCA Purple Month – record breaking number of seal pups but very sadly only for a very short period of time

Lunch time yesterday the GSPCA were called out to Jerbourg due to attend to a very poorly grey seal pup.

Head of Marine Mammals Geoff George with GSPCA team member Neil Hughes headed to the scene where there was a very poorly seal pup.

The pup was transported to the GSPCA seal unit where very sadly it died shortly after arriving.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The GSPCA are deeply saddened to say we were called out to a poorly seal pup at Jerbourg yesterday and despite our best efforts he passed away shortly after being rescued.”

GSPCA Purple Month – Happy tails as Captain Birdseye swims off to his new home

You may recall last month the GSPCA helped rescue a goldfish abandoned in a bucket being attaked by a gull.

We are delighted to report that although we had no leads to an owner we have managed to find Captain Brirdseye a new home.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager “Sadly during the 21 stray days Captain Birdseye the abandoned goldfish had to stay for at the GSPCA we did not find an owner.”

“However we are absolutely delighted that he has found a new home and was collected recently and we wanted to share the happy tail as part of the GSPCA Purple Month celebrations.”

February 2023 the GSPCA celebrates 150 years since being founded and here are a few ideas to get involved with this momentous mile stone.

The celebrations all kick off on the 1st February as we were founded in the middle of the month and throughout the month we will have a very Purple theme and lots happening through the following 12 months as we will be running a range of events and celebrations and we need your help to make it an extra special month and year.
