Yesterday the GSPCA and supporters spent the day at the Last Post celebrating St Andrews Day.
A fun family day was held in the Parish of St Andrews to raise funds for animals in Guernsey.
The GSPCA has been based in St Andrews since 1929 and for the first time we held an event to celebrate our Parishes Saint.
We had a small fun dog show, lots of games, goods on sale, a raffle and great entertainment.
Every Autumn the shores of the Bailiwick see grey seal pups being born, and the GSPCA are issuing advice today on what to do especially with inclement weather we have seen recently.
We had our first potential call on the weekend and the earliest seal we have rescued in recent years was Jethou Bumblebee who was rescued during the last week of November back in 2012.
In the last two years at the GSPCA we have rescued four Grey Seal Pups in total. Two last Winter Eden and Trinity and the previous year Jethou Bumblebee and Hanois.
On Saturday 15th November the World Premiere First screening of Fade2Grey's amazing live concert in Herm filmed in May 2014 was held at the Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts.
On 23rd May 2014, 80s electronica band Fade2Grey made history by taking a full concert rig to Herm Island and performing in front of 450 fans. The concert was filmed and has been released as a live DVD.
The evening was in aid of GSPCA and World Vision. Doors opened 7pm on what was a very wet and windy evening. Each of the great crowd that attended received a free DVD of the gig.
On Wednesday the 26th November we held our eleventh and final Volunteer Induction Evening at the GSPCA of 2014.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager and Emma Trousdale Animal Care Assistant were on hand to talk to the 17 new volunteers about the work of the Shelter and induct the keen new volunteers about the procedures and protocols at the Animal Shelter.
Some were interested in helping fund raising, others clean kennels, walk dogs, socialise cats and even those doing their Duke of Edinburgh.
Last night we had our US Thanks Giving and Christmas Themed Bingo evening at the Market Bistro.
From great Christmas jumpers to a decorated room set for Thanks Giving the fifth and final bingo night of 2014 at the Market Bistro was held.
We had another great turn out inside the Market Building and the team at the Market Bistro provided excellent service and wonderful food.
The evening started at 7pm with four games of bingo where instead of shouting 'line' or 'house' they were asked to call out 'USA'.
Today staff at the GSPCA were overjoyed to wave off Doretta the longest stay rabbit to her new home.
Doretta was brought into the GSPCA for rehomng on the 5th December 2012, which means she has been in need of a loving home for nearly 2 years.
Doretta has seen many rabbits come and go with nearly 200 passing through the Shelter during her time, but today it was her turn.
Doretta has lived out in a pen over looking our pond on Bunny Hop Hill at the GSPCA and has had a lovely time.
