The GSPCA really could not do so much without its amazing team of volunteers and supporters.

From the Committee to those that walk dogs, fund raisers to those that help with admin, dog trainers to cattery cleaners, gardeners to those helping with IT, the companies who send their staff to help to so many others the list goes on and on.

The last 18 months has certainly been incredibly difficult and especially so for the GSPCA and providing our 24/7 services with all the bio-security rules in place, and many still as the team still work in many challenging circumstances.

Our volunteers have really been on the frontline and especially our GSPCA Animal Ambulance Wardens.

The Wardens are volunteers that go out all hours to help sick, injured and stray animals and are part of a team that has spanned nearly 50 years in providing and filling this volunteer role.

In fact the GSPCA has survived and been led by a team of volunteers for over 148 years.

From rescuing animals stuck up chimneys to rounding up stray farm animals the Wardens are truly incredible and even get calls for snakes that turn out to be a geocache.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are truly blessed with such a phenomenal team of volunteers and supporters at the GSPCA.”

“In a normal year we would see over 1000 volunteers from all the corporate groups to the 800 plus that give their time to help our animal welfare work in the community.”

“The last 18 months has been incredibly challenging and meant that we have had to reduce the numbers of team members on site, but we have still needed so many volunteers to do so much from raising much needed funds to providing our Animal Ambulance Warden service.”

“Although we are not actively recruiting volunteers in all areas at the GSPCA, anyone that is interested in helping become a Warden on weekends in the day and night we would love to hear from them.”

“We are also always looking for volunteers that would like to help at our events and with fund raising.”

“Any corporate groups wanting to support our work we have a web page filled with more details which can be seen by visiting .”

“When we do start recruiting volunteers in other areas we will advertise and share the information on our volunteer page .”

“This summer we are planning a Flag Day and anyone able to help with any events please do let us know by emailing me us via [email protected] or call 257261 .”

"In fact anyone this Saturday with a lot of time we have been offered a stall place at Le Friquet Family Fun Day but we would need someone to set up, run and take it down and if you can help please do let us know as we would love to attend."

"We also cannot forget our staff as they volunteer so many additional hours and time which we are incredibly grateful for."
