On Sunday the GSPCA ran and organised the 8th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and what an incredible day it was.

With over 100 stalls, displays, charities, activities and 100s of animals there was a huge amount to do and see celebrating animals in Guernsey.

There were many new attractions and stalls from Crown and Anchor to peddle boats, displays on the problems with plastics and biodiversity, prosseco and Wheedons Gin to Paws for Support and Wag.

The Fun Dog Show had a wonderful and wide selection of rescue and much loved pets and the Giant Animal Mascot Football was another huge hit thanks to the wonderful team at the Plough Inn who took this years trophy back to the oldest pub in Guernsey.

Over £5000 has been counted and raised so far with further donations to come in, new volunteers started on the day and others found out about our next induction this Monday at 630pm and animals were found homes.

We had many enquiries about our New Wildlife Hospital and many Buy a Brick leaflets were handed out.

We had some amazing performers including Mancini and Me, Belles and Broomsticks and  Imogen Hayman to entertain the crowds and really added to the atmosphere.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are so incredibly thankful to all that were involved, supported and helped with our 8th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.”

“It was a truly amazing day and probably the one day you get to see more dogs in one place in Guernsey than any other.”

“There was such an amazing range of things to see and do and we honestly can’t thank enough all those that made it such a special day.”

“From the volunteers to the stall holders, the buskers to the dogs in the fun show, the Plough Inn Mascot football team to the security team, it was such a great day celebrating animals in Guernsey.”

“We have had some absolutely amazing feedback and kind comments on how it was such a wonderful day for the family and four legged friends and there were points you could hardly move on the Seafront.”

“We had a real theme of the environment and highlighting the need of our new Wildlife Hospital and how supporters can donate and Buy a Brick for this much needed new facility.”

“Not only did we raise much needed funds, we found animals homes, recruited new volunteers and there will be GSPCA tops being worn around the world thanks to the visitors off the cruise liner that was in.”

“It was a very long day and so much preparation and only now are most things packed away and from all at the GSPCA a huge thanks to anyone that made the 8th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday a day to remember and help those animals in our care and needing our support.”

Lorna Prince Animal Welfare Manager said “Thank you to everyone that helped with our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.”

“We needed many vehicles to help with moving all of what we needed and a special thanks to all that helped especially Regency Events.”

“It was great to see so many well cared for dogs and thank you everyone, not to mention the GSPCA team that were busy back at the Shelter caring for and rescuing animals while we were on the Seafront.”

Steve continued “We will upload lots of pictures very soon and more details from the day.”

“We focused much of the day on our new Wildlife Hospital.”
