APPEAL – Sark feral Starsky needs an entropion operation

Every day the GSPCA rush animals to the vets needing vet care and treatment and one very special cat needing an operation is Starsky.

Starsky is a feral cat from Sark who we are hoping to return him to the island where someone can watch over him once he has had a much needed operation.

Starsky has already had blood tests to check he is healthy other than a nasty eye issue requiring an entropion operation which will cost with care around £500.

Ali Le Huray GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “Starsky arrived from Sark last week as a feral cat and has had a few health issues which we have been helping with and the worst is his eyes needing an operation.”

“The operation and treatment will cost around £500 and if you can help donate you can do so online via https://giving.gg/donate/event/9442/GSPCA-Poorly-Sark-cat-needs-an-operation or call us 257261, or pop in the Shelter or our Charity Shop in Town.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Poor Starsky really needs an entropion operation on his eyes before we can think to return him to Sark where we have someone willing to watch over him.”

“Each year we help feral cats in a variety of ways, as if they aren’t neutered their numbers can quickly rise and very quickly health issues can follow.”

“We help hundreds of cats every year and with the thousands of animals through our doors and our veterinary bills alone often cost well over £5,000 a month with all the special diets and mediations to the hand rearing milk without the time and care they need.”
