The GSPCA was delighted to welcome Lance Corporal Richard Jones, the first magician to win Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, to the shelter today during his visit to Guernsey.

Richard, who performed a Magic Show at St James in St Peter Port last night, took time out of his schedule to visit the GSPCA alongside his father. Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, had the pleasure of showing them around the shelter, sharing the charity’s history, current work, and exciting plans for the future—including the ongoing #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal.

This marks Richard’s second visit to Guernsey, and he expressed how much he enjoyed seeing the work of the GSPCA first-hand. A passionate animal lover, Richard has previously rescued hedgehogs himself and taken them to a local rescue centre in Essex.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said:

“It was a real pleasure to welcome Richard and his father to the GSPCA. His genuine interest in animal welfare and the work we do was heartwarming. We had a great chat about our future plans and the incredible support we receive from the community. I went to the show last night before the night duty at the GSPCA with my 8 year old and friends and what a truly incredible evening we had, magical doesn't explain what a great night we had. We wish him all the best with his travels and hope to see him back in Guernsey again soon.”

Richard Jones, said:

“What a fantastic morning visiting the GSPCA, really can’t thank everyone enough.”

The GSPCA continues to welcome visitors and supporters from all walks of life who share a passion for animal welfare. To learn more or support the charity’s work, visit www.gspca.org.gg.
