Today the GSPCA were called to the car park next to Guernsey Airport for a very unusual stray.
We were called about a possible toad and on arrival GSPCA team member was faced with a very different animal.
Neil Hughes GSPCA team member said “Just after 11am we were called out to Guernsey Airport.”
“The call was to go and help a poorly toad but when I got there it wasn’t a toad at all but a very black water dragon.”
“The lizard is now back at the GSPCA in one of our vivarium’s.”
We are appealing for any information if you think you know the owner or if the lizard is yours please call the GSPCA on 257261.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We help stray reptiles every year although it is mostly tortoise we see at this time of year.”
“The water dragon to be totally black is showing signs of stress and being very warm and we have now settled the lizard in one of our specialist tanks or vivarium’s at the GSPCA.”
“Bearded dragons are fairly popular as pets and we do help a few every year, but this is our first water dragon.”
“If you have information who the owner might be or if you think the lizard could be yours you can call the GSPCA on 257261.”
“If not claimed in 21 days once healthy we will look to rehome the water dragon but hopefully we will find the owner.”
