Delilah the Seal Pup Making a Splash at the GSPCA – donate to her care & the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal
The GSPCA is delighted to share a positive update on Delilah, the common seal pup currently in the charity's care, who last week took her very first dip in the GSPCA's temporary seal rehabilitation facilities.
Since arriving at the GSPCA, Delilah has received a series of treatments and regular feeds of specialist baby milk as part of her rehabilitation programme. Thanks to the dedicated care provided by Head of Marine Mammals Geoff George, Delilah is now being gradually weaned onto fish and is making excellent progress.
In a short space of time, the young seal has gained more than 3kg, a significant milestone in her recovery and a positive sign that she is growing stronger each day.

Geoff George, GSPCA Head of Marine Mammals, said:
"Delilah has come on tremendously since she arrived with us. She has taken well to her treatments and feeds and has now started the important transition from milk to fish. Last week she enjoyed her first dip in our temporary seal facilities and it was wonderful to see her confidence growing in the water. She has already gained more than three kilograms, which is fantastic progress, and we are very pleased with how well she is doing."
The charity is also making significant progress with its ambitious Wildlife Hospital redevelopment project.

"It is fantastic to see Delilah doing so well and gaining strength every day thanks to Geoff's expertise and the support of our team and volunteers. Seeing her enjoy her first swim was a real milestone in her rehabilitation journey and a reminder of why the new Wildlife Hospital is so important."
"The Wildlife Hospital is really taking shape now. The pool areas are currently having their floors and walls completed and they are looking great. Every week we are getting closer to creating facilities that will transform the care we can provide to local wildlife and marine casualties for many decades to come."
"Visitors to the GSPCA may notice some disruption over the next few days as works continue on site. The concrete base for the new kennel block is currently being constructed, which means the lane is particularly busy and parking is restricted at times. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while these exciting developments continue."
