First Educational Guided Tour in over 2 years at the GSPCA

On Monday the GSPCA opened its doors for the first time in over 2 years for an Educational Guided Tour.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager met nearly 30 Brownies and their leaders at 630pm on what was a lovely sunny evening.

The tour started in the hospital department where some of the Brownies got to feed some baby birds and finished in the cattery.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was lovely to take around the first Educational Guided Tour for over 2 years on Monday.”

“It was a fairly large group with 24 Brownies and their Leaders and they really enjoyed meeting a baby hedgehog to feeding baby birds.”

“They learnt about our history to where the animals come from to how much it costs to run the Shelter and the events we run.”

“Pre-covid we would run tours where each ear we would have 1,000’s young and old from school trips to WI groups.”

“We really love showing our facilities and talking about our work at the GSPCA, although there are areas we are unable to show such as the nervous wildlife or the very poorly animals in our care.”

“With over 400 animals in our care we are extremely busy and there certainly was plenty to see and talk about.”
