First Ever Charities Seafront Sunday a Huge Success for Guernsey

The Association of Guernsey Charities (AGC) are delighted to celebrate the success of the very first Charities Seafront Sunday, held on Sunday 17th May 2026 along the seafront in St Peter Port.

With nearly 40 charities and good causes represented, alongside over 60 additional stalls and activities, the event brought together the community for a vibrant and uplifting day. Despite a couple of short, light showers, the atmosphere remained fantastic throughout, with strong support from the public and a real sense of community spirit.

The day began in style with an incredible display from the Guernsey Majorettes, followed by an impressive marching band performance by the Guernsey Boys’ Brigade, setting the tone for a lively and engaging event.

Entertainment continued throughout the day, including performances from GU10, who delighted the crowds with their sea shanties, while the GSPCA ran a popular fun dog show, which proved to be a highlight for many visitors.

A wide range of charities and organisations took part, showcasing their work and engaging with the public. These included:

GSPCA, Guernsey Freemasons, Guernsey Together Festival, (GO) Giving Opportunities, Guernsey Mind, Grow Limited, Guernsey Kidney Patients Association, Channel Islands Air Search, The Clean Earth Trust, Headway Guernsey, Fairtrade Guernsey, Red Cross, Guernsey Nature Commission, Autism Guernsey, Dementia Friendly Guernsey +, Bright Tights, Bright Beginnings, Guernsey Bereavement Service, Les Bourgs Hospice, Diabetes Guernsey, Royal Guernsey Light Infantry, Guernsey Caring for Ex Offenders (GCFEO), RNLI Guernsey, Pink Ladies, Bailiwick of Guernsey Scout Association, The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief, Guernsey Friends of Maggie's, ACTIVE, Bowel Cancer Guernsey, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Girlguiding Guernsey, Youth Commission, and St John Ambulance and Rescue – Flying Christine.

The Association of Guernsey Charities also hosted a dedicated stall, providing information about its work and promoting key platforms designed to support the charitable sector, including:

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager and Director of the Association of Guernsey Charities, said:
"We are absolutely thrilled with the success of the first Charities Seafront Sunday. It was fantastic to see so many charities and good causes come together in one place to showcase the incredible work happening across our island. The atmosphere was brilliant throughout the day, and it was wonderful to see the community coming out in such strong support despite a couple of short showers. I would like to extend a huge thank you to every charity, organisation, volunteer, performer, and supporter who helped make the event such a success. Events like this highlight just how important the charitable sector is in Guernsey, and we are proud to celebrate and support that together."

The AGC and GSPCA encourage everyone to visit the participating charities’ social media pages to see the many photos and comments capturing what was truly a memorable and inspiring day.

Plans are already being considered for future events, building on the success of this inaugural Charities Seafront Sunday.

Steve continued “The GSPCA are hugely grateful to all involved and supported the Liberation Ball event at The Duke.”
