Grant Thornton Team Returns to Support the GSPCA
The GSPCA was delighted to welcome another team of volunteers from Grant Thornton last Tuesday, who spent half a day away from the office helping support the charity's work and the many animals in its care.
The team, made up of Ruth, Claire, Nikki and Sergio, were greeted by GSPCA Training and Community Officer Tim Pellett, who introduced them to the charity before they got straight to work helping with a range of essential tasks around the shelter.
During their visit, the volunteers assisted with sweeping, grounds maintenance, washing the GSPCA's animal welfare vehicles and helping with the care of hedgehogs currently undergoing rehabilitation at the shelter. They also had the opportunity to meet one of the GSPCA's seals and see first-hand some of the wildlife work carried out by the charity.
Training and Community Officer Tim Pellett said:
"Awesome group from Grant Thornton last week. Ruth, Claire, Nikki and Sergio swept, washed vans, helped on hogs and carried out some grounds maintenance. They got to see a hedgehog and our seal. It was great to have them with us and they all worked really hard during their visit."
Before leaving, the group enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the GSPCA, giving them an insight into the wide variety of animal welfare, rescue and rehabilitation work undertaken by the charity each day.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
"We are incredibly grateful to Grant Thornton for once again supporting the GSPCA through a staff volunteering day. The team achieved so much in just a few hours and their help makes a real difference. From assisting with wildlife care and maintaining the grounds to helping clean our vehicles, every task completed helps our staff focus on caring for the thousands of animals we help each year."
Corporate and group volunteering days continue to play an important role in supporting the GSPCA. As the charity remains busy caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as pets in need of help, support from local businesses provides valuable assistance while giving staff the opportunity to learn more about the charity's work.
Steve Byrne added:
"It is always wonderful to welcome teams from local businesses and organisations to the GSPCA. Volunteering days are beneficial for everyone involved and we hope more companies will consider getting involved in the future.
