GSPCA Appeal for Mr Blinkle Squeak (“Mr B”) a cat with cancer needing an operation
The GSPCA is appealing to the community for support to help a very special cat in urgent need of life‑saving surgery. Mr Blinkle Squeak, affectionately known as Mr B, arrived at the Shelter over 18 months ago as a severely unwell stray. Disorientated, dehydrated, weak and battling a number of health concerns, the GSPCA team have worked tirelessly to give him the best possible care.
When he first arrived, Mr B required intensive veterinary monitoring and since arriving he has had treatment for blood pressure issues, kidney concerns, and sadly he is completely blind as a result of his underlying conditions. Earlier in his journey with us he also underwent surgery to remove his ear tips due to cancer risks which sadly another issue has arisen.
Despite everything he has been through, Mr B has remained one of the most affectionate and gentle cats in our care. He adores fuss, loves human company, and continues to show incredible resilience.
Today, Mr B faces another major challenge. A concerning lump has developed on his nose, and he now urgently requires an operation to remove it. This essential procedure is expected to cost at least £400, and the GSPCA is asking the public for help to give Mr B the chance he truly deserves.
The good news is that Mr B is due to go to a wonderful foster home, where will continue to receive love, comfort and stability. All he needs now is the surgery that will give him the best possible chance of a long, happy life.
Anna Paint, GSPCA Supervisor said
“Mr B is one of the most extraordinary cats we’ve ever cared for. Despite being blind and having faced so many health hurdles, he is endlessly loving, always seeking affection and offering gentle head bumps to everyone he meets. This operation really is life‑saving for him. The lump on his nose needs to be removed as soon as possible, and the cost will be at least £400. We are appealing to our amazing community to help support Mr B and the many other animals who rely on us. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. If you can help, please donate online, call us on 257261, or pop into the GSPCA in St Andrews. Thank you so much to everyone who supports the animals in our care.”
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager said
“Mr B’s story is just one example of the thousands of animals we help every single year at the GSPCA. Many arrive with complex medical and emotional needs, and we are committed to giving each one the best chance of a brighter future. Sadly, it is often the older animals or those with ongoing health challenges that struggle to find homes, even though they have just as much love to give. We would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in offering a wonderful home to an animal in need. You can register your interest by completing an adoption application online. Your support truly changes lives.”
