GSPCA Appeals for Teddies and Prizes Ahead of Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday
The Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) is appealing to the public and local businesses for donations of teddies and prizes ahead of the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday, taking place on Sunday 3rd May.
With over hundred stalls and activities due to attend, a packed programme of activities and entertainment, and thousands of people expected along the seafront, the event is one of the GSPCA’s biggest and most important fundraising days of the year.
Donations are being sought to help stock the charity’s popular stalls and activities, including teddies for tombolas and the coconut shy, as well as prizes to accompany the colourful rosettes at the much‑loved Fun Dog Show. All suitable items, big or small, are hugely appreciated and help ensure everyone has the chance to take something special home while supporting animal welfare.
The day will feature a vibrant stage programme with GU10 and other entertainment expected throughout the event, alongside the Fun Dog Show, charity stalls, food, games and activities for all ages.
The GSPCA is also welcoming anyone who would like to busk, entertain, perform, or volunteer on the day to help make the event a success.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
“Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday is an amazing day for our community, with OVER hundred stalls, fantastic entertainment and activities for everyone – especially our Fun Dog Show. Donations of teddies and prizes make a huge difference to what we can offer on the day, and every single item helps us raise vital funds for animals in our care. We’re also delighted to hear from anyone who would like to entertain, busk or volunteer and be part of this very special event.”

#GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal Update
The GSPCA Wildlife Hospital, part of the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal, continues to progress impressively. The west wing roof trusses are now complete, giving a striking preview of the future facility, and the east wing roof trusses are scheduled to begin very soon.
With the project now at its halfway point, the GSPCA is encouraging supporters to join the appeal by:
- Donating to the Build Fund
- Sponsoring a room, kennel, aviary, or specialised unit
- Supporting sustainability upgrades, including planned solar panel installations
- Taking part in events or community fundraising
- Leaving a gift or message of support via giving.gg
Every contribution supports the future of wildlife rescue in Guernsey for generations to come.
