GSPCA Celebrates Promotion of Ali Le Huray to Assistant Deputy Manager

The GSPCA is delighted to announce the promotion of Ali Le Huray to the role of Assistant Deputy Manager.

Ali first joined the GSPCA team in 2018 and quickly became a valued member of the charity, caring for the wide variety of animals that come through the Shelter's doors whilst supporting colleagues across all areas of the organisation. In 2023, Ali was promoted to Supervisor, a role in which she excelled, and last week she officially started her new position as Assistant Deputy Manager.

Over the years, Ali has become an integral part of the GSPCA team, combining hands-on animal welfare experience with a commitment to supporting staff, volunteers and the day-to-day running of the charity. Alongside her practical animal care responsibilities, Ali has undertaken extensive training and professional development, including upskilling in employment law and management.

Most recently, Ali took on responsibility for organising the staff rota, a challenging task involving more than 50 members of staff and hundreds of volunteers who help ensure the GSPCA's shelter and animal ambulance services operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ali Le Huray said:

"I honestly couldn't believe it when I was offered the role and I am absolutely delighted to become Assistant Deputy Manager. The GSPCA has been such a huge part of my life since joining in 2018 and I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside such a dedicated and passionate team.”

"I love supporting our staff and volunteers and helping wherever I can, whether that's with the animals, the day-to-day running of the charity or behind the scenes. Every day is different and I am proud to play a small part in all that the GSPCA does for animal welfare in Guernsey. I am very excited about this next chapter and grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from everyone."

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:

"Congratulations to Ali on her well-deserved promotion to Assistant Deputy Manager. Since joining the GSPCA in 2018, Ali has consistently gone above and beyond in every role she has undertaken.”

"Her dedication to animal welfare, commitment to supporting our team and willingness to continually develop her skills have made her an invaluable member of the organisation. Whether helping care for animals, managing operational challenges or supporting colleagues, Ali always gives 100%.”

"On behalf of everyone at the GSPCA, thank you for all of your hard work, support and dedication. We are delighted to see you take on this new role and look forward to seeing all you achieve in the years ahead."

GSPCA President John Knight added:

"I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to Ali on her promotion. The GSPCA depends on dedicated individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and committed to supporting both the animals and those who care for them.”

"Ali has demonstrated those qualities time and time again throughout her career with the charity. Thank you for all that you do for the animals of Guernsey, for the GSPCA team and for the many volunteers who help support our work. This promotion is thoroughly deserved and we wish you every success in your new position."

Ali's promotion now creates a vacancy for a Supervisor position within the GSPCA team.

Everyone at the GSPCA would like to congratulate Ali on her promotion and thank her for the dedication, compassion and hard work she brings to the charity every day. Her promotion reflects not only her commitment to animal welfare but also the enormous contribution she makes to supporting the people who help keep the GSPCA running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
