As before lock down the GSPCA acted early in procedures in relation to lock down and as we move through the phases back to the new normal we continue to have heightened procedures to ensure the safety of our team and the community.

We continue to advise that you DO NOT visit the GSPCA if you are over 65, have an underlying health condition or have any symptoms of Coronavirus and only visit us if your visit is essential but before doing so please call us on 01481 257261 or email [email protected] before your trip to the GSPCA to see if we can help without you coming to the Shelter.

Inline with States of Guernsey procedures we are recording details of anyone visiting the GSPCA and your details will be requested on arrival.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It is great news that we are entering Phase 4 as we exit lock down in Guernsey but at the GSPCA we are taking a very cautious approach.”

“We were extremely proactive is suspending many of our operations early as the pandemic infiltrated Guernsey and as we exit we continue to be vigilant for our team, visitors and our whole community.”

“With coronavirus in nearly every country in the world the risk is still out there and we cannot become complacent.”

“We are following States of Guernsey rules in a much heightened way so we continue with only our essential services and encourage anyone that needs to visit the GSPCA to do so only if essential and to call us before coming.”

“We are recording the details of everyone visiting the GSPCA inline with need to trace the movements to those that come on site and we continue to have a holding area outside our reception to help with social distancing.”

“This means we are sad to report that we continue to operate only with essential staff and essential volunteers.”

“With over 800 volunteers and before lockdown an average 120 helping every week it would be impossible to operate and comply with social distancing in the close confines of some of our working areas.”

“We miss our volunteers and visitors very much but we have to be cautious in how we operate at the GSPCA.”

“With huge challenges on our resources and a drop in income from boarding and donations we continue to ask you to help us help animals in Guernsey with our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal by donating online via - https://giving.gg/donate/event/5876/GSPCA-Coronavirus-Emergency-Appeal , by post or by phone 01481 257261.”

“We thank everyone for their support and understanding during these difficult days but to help show your support to the GSPCA not only can you donate you can also #PetorateToDecorate .”

“Petroate to Decorate is a fun way for everyone to show their support to animal charities across the British Isles and Ireland and with this idea born in Guernsey we would love to see everyone get involved.”

“To find out more on #PetorateToDecorate please visit http://www.gspca.org.gg/page/petoratetocelebrate .”
