GSPCA Helps Association of Guernsey Charities Relocate Office with help from local freemasons

The GSPCA was pleased to assist the Association of Guernsey Charities (AGC) with the relocation of its office from the Cobo Community Centre, helping ensure the charity can continue directing as much funding as possible towards supporting its member charities across the Bailiwick.

The AGC has been based at the Cobo Community Centre for several years and recently took the decision to vacate its office space as part of efforts to reduce overhead costs and maximise the resources available to support charitable work within the community.

On Wednesday evening, members of the Light Blues Club of Guernsey and Alderney Freemasons, together with AGC Director and GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne, volunteered their time to help with the move. Matt Tostevin, Luke Vaudin and John Bell joined Steve in transferring furniture, equipment, files and supplies from the office, while AGC staff member Karen Solway coordinated the relocation to ensure everything ran smoothly.

The GSPCA was delighted to provide the use of one of its vans to assist with transporting items, and has also offered storage space for much of the AGC's equipment and archive materials whilst the charity settles into its new arrangements. Luke Vaudin also kindly provided the use of his trailer, which proved invaluable during the move.

Following the relocation, the volunteers were given a tour of the GSPCA site to see the charity's ongoing work and learn more about the exciting developments currently underway as part of the GSPCA's rebuilding project and Wildlife Hospital appeal.

Steve Byrne, Committee Member of the Light Blues Club, GSPCA Manager and AGC Director, said:

"We were very pleased to be able to help the Association of Guernsey Charities with its office move. The AGC plays an important role in supporting charities across our islands, so it was great to see volunteers coming together to lend a hand.”

"A huge thank you to Matt, Luke, John and AGC staff member Karen for giving up their time to make the move possible, and special thanks to Luke for providing his trailer. We were also happy to offer storage space and the use of a GSPCA van to help with the relocation.”

"The AGC's decision to reduce its costs means more resources can be focused on supporting its member charities and the valuable work they do within our community. It is also important to recognise and thank the Cobo Community Centre for hosting the AGC over the years and providing such a welcoming base for the organisation.”

"This move is another wonderful example of charities and volunteers working together for the benefit of the whole community, and we are proud to have been able to assist."

The GSPCA wishes the Association of Guernsey Charities every success in its new chapter and remains committed to working alongside charities and community organisations across the Bailiwick to support those making a difference.
