Last week a member of the GSPCA team joined the Dementia Friendly Guernsey Champions training session took place on Wednesday 6th March at CAMHS in the PEH.
The trainers from Dementia Friendly Guernsey were Julie Bulpitt and Mark Guilbert and the GSPCA Training and Community Officer Tim Pellett went along to take part.
Tim said “We had a very interactive day last week at the Dementia Friendly Guernsey Champion training.”
“I really enjoyed the day and feel that as a Champion I'm more equipped to support our staff, volunteers and clients, customers and the general public far better than previously.”
“I will wear my badge with pride and ensure that I am a good ambassador for the Dementia Friendly Guernsey community as well as ensuring the GSPCA is continually widening its scope as an equality access and welcoming place for everyone to enjoy.”
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Last month Dementia Friendly Guernsey supported us here at the GSPCA providing training for our staff and volunteers as we work throughout the community and you never know when his invaluable training could help a member of the GSPCA team with a situation with someone suffering from dementia.”
“We are hugely grateful to Dementia Friendly Guernsey for all of their support and for the Champion training that Tim attended.”
“From helping owners that have lost their pets to those taken into care and we are asked to help look after their pets, we are often helping owners and their family members with a wide range of ailments and we appreciate any training from organisations that can help us help the community.”
