On the 28th March Seb Goman and Gemma Gaudion GSPCA Animal Care Assistants and on the 12th April ACA Ali Le Huray and Senior ACA Anna Paint travelled to Battersea for a full days training.

This year Battersea Dogs and Cats Home launched their Battersea Academy.

The Battersea Academy is a centre for professional development that trains animal welfare practitioners from across the UK and around the world. Delivered by Battersea’s experts, Academy programmes are designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills they need to operate their own rescue and rehoming centres effectively and to the highest possible standards.

Seb and Gemma attended a days training with the theme ‘Introduction to Dog Behaviour and Welfare’ and Anna and Ali attended the ‘Introduction to Cat Behaviour and Welfare’ day.

All 4 staff thoroughly enjoyed their time at Battersea and cannot thank the team at Battersea enough for the opportunity and experience, as well as all of the training they received.

Seb Goman GSPCA ACA said “We had such a great day at Battersea and learnt so much.”

“We met others from other charities and got to meet lots of their dogs and cats in their care.”

Gemma Gaudion GSPCA ACA said “Thank you so much to all that made our training at Battersea such a great day.”

“It was so lovely to see all of their kennels, cat pens and how they work and we really, really enjoyed it.”

Ali Le Huray GSPCA ACA said “What an incredible experience we had at Battersea last month.”

“The handouts we have are all really useful and we learnt so much.”

“It was great to speak to others to see how we all help animals and find out some of the different challenges each charity faces depending on their problems.”

Anna Paint Senior ACA said “Even after many years working with cats there are always new things to learn and we had a fantastic experience at Battersea with their team.”

“They made us all feel very welcome and it was great to see the many ways we work in similar ways and many that we do in different ways with the different challenges we have.”

“Thank you so much to all the Battersea team from the GSPCA.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Every day working and helping animals you learn something new and all of the team that visited Battersea came back full of new ideas as well as confidence that we already do so many amazing things for the animals in our care at the GSPCA.”

“We are continually training our team at the GSPCA and always looking at opportunities and speakers that can help us improve how we care for the animals and work with the community.”

“We also run a number of training courses ourselves and you can find out more by visiting http://www.gspca.org.gg/services/training-courses .”

“From all at the GSPCA a huge thank you to all at Battersea for giving our team this amazing opportunity.”
