GSPCA Thanks Sidney’s Sponsored Events for Wonderful Liberation Ball

The GSPCA would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Corinne and Paul Connolly of Sidney’s Sponsored Events, their dedicated volunteers, and everyone who supported the wonderful Liberation Ball fundraiser held at The Duke Hotel, St Peter Port on 9th May, celebrating the 81st Liberation Day in the Channel Islands.

The evening was a wonderful evening, bringing together the community for a memorable night of wartime-themed entertainment, great food, and fundraising in support of the GSPCA.

Guests were welcomed with a unique and fitting touch, with an army vehicle positioned at the front of the hotel for photographs, setting the tone for the evening. Inside, the venue was transformed into a wartime setting, creating a truly immersive experience.

The entertainment throughout the evening was exceptional, starting with Barry Noble as Winston Churchill, who officially opened proceedings with a special speach. Guests were then treated to outstanding performances from Colin Bourdiec as George Formby, whose act delighted the audience, along with the incredible Burlettes, who brought the spirit of wartime entertainment to life with their performance.

The GSPCA would also like to thank The Duke Hotel and its staff for hosting the event and providing a lovely meal, helping make the evening so special for all in attendance.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said:
"We are incredibly grateful to Corinne and Paul Connolly, all at Sidney’s Sponsored Events, their volunteers, and everyone who attended and supported this fantastic Liberation Ball.”

“The effort that went into creating such a special and immersive evening was clear to see, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate Liberation Day to support both SSAFA and the GSPCA.”

“From the amazing entertainment to the dressed room, it truly was a memorable event.”

“We would also like to thank The Duke Hotel and their team for their hospitality and support.”

“Events like this make a huge difference to the animals in our care, and we cannot thank everyone involved enough."

The night help promote and support the GSPCA’s vital work caring for animals in need across Guernsey, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The GSPCA extends its sincere thanks to everyone involved in making the evening such a success.

Steve continued “The GSPCA are hugely grateful to all involved and supported the Liberation Ball event at The Duke.”
