Last month the GSPCA had the great pleasure in showing staff from Guernsey College of FE and Jersey Highland’s College around the Shelter.

Tim Pellet GSPCA Community and Training Officer hosted the tour showing Jane Fears from Guernsey and Tina Upstell from Jersey the 500 animals, introduced them to the team and show case our facilities and plans for the future.

Tim Pellett said “Last month we had a great visit with Jane Fears and Tina Upstell from Guernsey and Jersey colleges respectively with both having never had the opportunity to have a proper behind the scenes tour of the GSPCA.”

“We walked the two ladies around to meet with team members Beckie and Laura as they conducted their business in relevant departments.”

“Jane and Tina had not had to opportunity of handling a hedgehog, or seen a seal (or 5) so up close before, but both have now ticked their 'bucket list'.”

“The Degus were also a new name to them also.”

“We continued around the Shelter and saw all the wild and domestics, enjoyed the peaceful, pleasant surroundings of the Memorial Garden and we took the time to appreciate the hard work and dedication of all our staff, army of volunteers and the industry of the Work 2 Benefit team.”

“We were mindful to introduce how we intend to utilise the surroundings and the varying departments to our advantage at the GSPCA when we undertake our NVQ L2 in Small Animal Care and it was great to see how much the enjoyed their visit and how we can work together.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was fantastic to greet Jane and Tina last month at the GSPCA.”

“It has been great getting to know both college teams who have all been fantastic and are helping us in being able to run the City and Guilds Level 2 Work Based Animal Care course here at the GSPCA.”

“Training our staff, volunteers and placements is hugely important to us at the GSPCA and we are always looking at ways to upskill the team and love to hear from anyone that can help.”

“We run a variety of training and courses and anyone interested please see what is on offer by visiting http://www.gspca.org.gg/services/training-courses .”
