Last week the staff and volunteers at the GSPCA took part in training in Pet Bereavement thanks to the Guernsey Bereavement Service.

Sadly every day of the year staff and volunteers at the GSPCA help owners of pets that have died, whether recently or in the past and it is always hard to know if you are saying the right thing.

Three volunteers from the Guernsey Bereavement Service gave an interactive presentation and explained where help can be found in Guernsey and how to help those suffering from loss.

At the GSPCA we offer a Pet Cremation Service  and help over 1000 families every year with their loss.

To help those bereaved owners and their families we recently opened our Chapel of Rest and Pet Memorial Garden as we help over.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers from Guernsey Bereavement Service for helping provide the training sessions for the team here at the GSPCA.”

“For a number of years we have been working closely with the Guernsey Bereavement Service and we are hugely grateful for their support.”

“The team all enjoyed and took a lot from the training from Guernsey Bereavement Service it was really appreciated from all at the GSPCA as well as quite emotional.”

“Bereavement is difficult no matter the circumstances and we are so grateful to all at Guernsey Bereavement Service for all of their support for our team at the GSPCA and the community of Guernsey.”
