International Dog Day Celebrates the Thousands of Dogs Helped by the GSPCA Each Year as the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal Continues
Today, on International Dog Day, the GSPCA is celebrating the thousands of dogs it helps every year through its wide range of animal welfare, veterinary support, boarding, training, and owner support services.
From stray dogs and cruelty cases to dogs seeking loving new homes, the GSPCA is there every step of the way for island dogs and their owners. The charity also supports the community through its boarding facilities, affordable microchipping service at just £4.99, training courses, fun dog shows, pet first aid courses, pet cremation services, and advice for prospective dog owners.
As the charity celebrates dogs today, it is also highlighting the progress being made on the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal, which will create a modern Wildlife Hospital and improved facilities for the future of animal welfare in Guernsey.
The foundations for the new Kennels are now nearing completion, with much of the building materials and supplies already delivered to the site. Once the foundations are completed, the main construction phase is expected to begin in the New Year.
Alongside the larger development project, the GSPCA continues to improve facilities for the animals currently in its care. Recent upgrades have included new mesh work in sections of the boarding kennels and improvements to kennel bed areas to ensure dogs staying with the charity enjoy the best possible environment.

"International Dog Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible companionship, loyalty, and joy that dogs bring to our lives. At the GSPCA we help thousands of dogs each year, whether they arrive as strays, come into our care through welfare concerns, need a new home, stay with us in our boarding kennels, receive microchipping, attend our events, or are supported through some of the most difficult moments owners face, including our pet cremation service.
"While today is about celebrating dogs, it is also a reminder of the importance of continuing to invest in animal welfare. The #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal is progressing well, with the foundations nearing completion and much of the building supplies now on site. The new Wildlife Hospital will transform our ability to care for sick, injured, and vulnerable animals for many decades to come.

Alongside the exciting progress of the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal, these upgrades help ensure we can continue providing the highest standards of care for every dog entrusted to us."
