Investec's Bunny Chow Fundraiser Raises £740 for GSPCA
The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to Investec for raising an incredible £740 through a special workplace fundraiser inspired by the South African dish, Bunny Chow.
As a South African-founded bank, Investec brought a taste of Durban to its Guernsey office by hosting a Bunny Chow lunch event for colleagues. The fundraiser celebrated the bank's heritage while also supporting a local cause close to the hearts of many staff members.
Employees enthusiastically supported the event, raising £370, which was then generously matched pound-for-pound by Investec's Community Donations Committee, doubling the total donation to £740.
In a letter to the GSPCA, Investec explained that with so many animal lovers among its colleagues, choosing the charity as the beneficiary was an easy decision.
The donation will help the GSPCA continue its work caring for thousands of animals each year, from pets in need of shelter and veterinary care to injured wildlife requiring rescue and rehabilitation.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Investec who supported this fantastic fundraiser and to the Community Donations Committee for matching the amount raised. It's wonderful to see businesses finding creative ways to support local charities whilst sharing something meaningful from their own culture and heritage.
Every donation makes a real difference, helping us provide care, shelter, veterinary treatment and a second chance for animals across Guernsey. On behalf of all the animals and our team, thank you to everyone involved."
The colourful Bunny Chow event not only raised vital funds but also brought colleagues together while introducing many to a traditional South African favourite. Investec even created fun promotional and thank-you materials featuring animal-themed artwork and messages celebrating the success of the fundraiser.
The GSPCA relies heavily on donations and community fundraising to continue its vital work and is always grateful to individuals, schools, community groups and businesses who choose to support the charity.
