It has been amazing to see such incredible ways supporters of the GSPCA and animals have been inventing all sorts of ways to raise funds for the animals at the GSPCA and the 1000’s we help every year during the Covid-19 pandemic.

9 year old Jake Hardill during lockdown has been kept busy not just with his home schooling but also making home made nest boxes for wild birds which he has been selling to raise funds for the GSPCA.

Jake is an incredible supporter of the GSPCA and can often be seen supporting us at many of our events which we would normally be holding, but sadly not currently due to Covid-19.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Jake is a wonderful young man and we cannot thank him enough for taking the time to make these incredible nest boxes and sell them to raise funds for our work and the animals at the GSPCA.”

“Not only has he helped us with his incredible donation from the sale of the boxes but he has also been helping the bird life of the island which many are currently raising young or nesting.”

“From all of the team and animals at the GSPCA a huge thanks to Jake and if anyone would like to run their own fundraiser there are lots of ideas on our website , but please do be mindful of the States of Guernsey advice for Coronavirus.”

We asked Jake a few questions

“I’m  9 and in Year 4 at Castel.”

“I love wildlife and this helps the wildlife and raises money for a charity looking after them too.”

“I love Shelter tours and meeting the animals.”

“I really want to be a marine biologist!

Steve continued “Our children are the next generation to care for animals and some day to run and support the GSPCA and it is so kind that Jake thinks so much of our work here at the GSPCA.”

“Jake made an 8 amazing nest boxes and raised an incredible £45, again we cannot thank you enough and to those that bought them.”

“With so many baby birds about we have issued some advice on what to do if you find one and also about not disturbing nesting animals via this link .”

“It is such a difficult time due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to help raise the much needed funds we have launched our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal and if you would like to donate you can do so by calling 01481 257261, by post or online via our web page .”

“Another great way to supporting is by donating each month and to find out details please visit this web page .”

“Without your support the GSPCA couldn’t achieve so much caring and helping over 3000 animals every year.”

“If any business would like to support our work in any way from making donations to wish list items we would love to hear from you and please call us or email me [email protected] “

To make a donation by post please make cheques payable to 'GSPCA’ and post to GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St Andrews, Guernsey, GY6 8UD.
