On Friday 20th June 2025 it is #BringYourDogtoWorkDay sometimes known as #TakeYourDogToWorkDay which we celebrate here at the GSPCA each as do many around the islands.

All around Guernsey each year businesses and offices have had their 4 some 3 legged friends come to work and this year Bring Your Dog To Work Day takes places today, Friday 21st June.

This year we are asking islanders to get involved to help raise funds for the much needed new kennels as part of the GSPCA BIGGEST BUILD.

Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity.

When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work.  Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work?

Discussing the benefits of taking a dog to work might just result in a match with a dog we have in for homing.

We rehome hundreds of pets every year, with an average 40 to 50 dogs in need of a forever home in Guernsey each year.

To see some of them when they are looking for homes please click here http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals/dogs .

Seb Goman GSPCA Senior Welfare & Animal Care Assistant said “We meet so many dogs here at the GSPCA from the strays we reunite to their owners to the boarding dogs in our care, those looking for new homes to those that have been cruelly treated.”

“On Friday 20th June we hope that lots of owners around Guernsey get involved with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay or #TakeYourDogToWorkDay and why not help raise funds for the much needed new kennels we want to build.”

“We have lost 10 kennels due to the need of the new Wildlife Hospital and we desperately need to build a block with 12 kennels with isolation areas, room for dogs looking for homes, grooming area, section for lost dogs, those cruelly treated and many more.”

"We rehome and help dozens of dogs every month through the Shelter at the GSPCA, and it is really nice to hear of those owners that can take their dogs to work."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “This is the eleventh year the GSPCA have been getting involved with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay or #TakeYourDogToWorkDay which is such a fantastic day celebrating dogs in Guernsey and with eh #GSPCABiggestBuild now underway we are asking those involved to help raise funds for this much needed project replacing building and kennels some of which date back to the 1940’s.”

“We help rehome 40 to 50 dogs each year in Guernsey and help around 200 strays find their way home.”

“We also help dogs in so many ways from advice to our boarding and we have a few of the team that regularly bring their dogs to work so we will be involved once again with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay and #TakeYourDogToWorkDay .”

“The new kennels would add much needed grooming and isolation facilities, as well as kennels made for those cruelly treated and neglected.”

“It all takes place on Friday 20th June 2025 and why not in place of a mufti day celebrate #BringYourDogtoWorkDay and help raise funds for the GSPCA.”
