Join the GSPCA and Guide Dogs Guernsey at the South Show for a Fun Dog Show and Family Day Out
The GSPCA is delighted to announce that it has teamed up with Guide Dogs Guernsey for this year's South Show, with both charities coming together to offer a fun-filled day for animal lovers, families and their four-legged friends.
The charities will be at the South Show on Saturday 15th August 2026 with a range of activities and information throughout the day, culminating in the ever-popular Fun Dog Show, which will begin at 2pm.
Dog show registration will open from 11am, with judging led by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne. All breeds are welcome to enter, and for a minimum donation of £5 per dog, participants can enter as many classes as they wish.
There is an entry charge to the South Show, although GA&HS members receive free entry.
Fun Dog Show Classes
- Best Puppy
- Best Adult
- Best Rescue
- Waggiest Bum with Happiest Handler
- Golden Oldies (7 Years+)
- Best Trick
The winners of each class will then go forward to compete for the coveted:
Best in Show
The Best in Show winner will be awarded the South Show Cup, kindly donated by Forest Stores, and will hold the trophy for one year.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
"We are very excited to be joining forces with Guide Dogs Guernsey at this year's South Show. The event is always a fantastic day out for the community and provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the special bond we share with our dogs while supporting two local charities."
He added:
"Our Fun Dog Show has become a popular feature of the South Show and we look forward to welcoming dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and ages. Whether your dog is a rescue, a talented trick performer, a golden oldie or simply has the waggiest bum on the island, there is a class for everyone."
Steve continued:
"Registration opens from 11am and judging begins at 2pm. For a minimum donation of just £5, owners can enter as many classes as they wish, making it a fun and affordable way to take part while helping local animals and supporting the work of Guide Dogs Guernsey."
"A huge thank you goes to Forest Stores for once again donating the South Show Cup. The winners of each class will automatically go through to our Best in Show finale, where one lucky dog will take home the prestigious trophy for the year."
The GSPCA is also seeking volunteers to help at its South Show stall and would welcome donations of prizes for the Fun Dog Show.
"If you would like to volunteer at the event, help on our stall or donate prizes, we would love to hear from you. Events like these are only possible thanks to the generosity of volunteers, supporters and local businesses," added Steve.
